Pebbled Calfskin vs. Synthetic Collars
Materials define comfort, longevity, and integrity.
The Limitations of Synthetic Collars:
1. Non-Breathable Surfaces
Plastic and PVC are sealed materials. They trap heat and moisture against the neck, particularly in warm climates or during active walks. Over time, this can contribute to irritation, odor buildup, and general discomfort.
Dogs wear their collars for hours at a time. Breathability matters.
2. Rigid Edges & Coat Friction
Synthetic collars often rely on laminated layers and stiff finishes. These edges can rub against the coat, leading to matting, hair breakage, or thinning at the neckline — especially for long-haired or sensitive breeds.
An everyday object should move with the body, not resist it.
3. Short Lifespan
Plastics and coated materials tend to crack, stiffen, or fade with time. What begins as “durable” frequently becomes disposable — requiring replacement rather than repair.
